thoughts about hospital 2 and targeting groups

Updated: Nov 27, 2022

Through our visit to the hospital, we were more curious about The sanctuary as a place. The sanctuary in Edinburgh Hospital is an open space that is non-religious in nature.

In terms of understanding the sanctuary, I see it as a space where people can socialise or deal with personal matters. It is a place where people can relax. This space serves to balance people's emotions and ease their physical health.

Through the research, we will develop our thinking based on the emotions of each stage of the person. Each space corresponds to a stage of emotion. In addition, hugs can relieve emotions. We want to design different figures of dolls, which can be as big or even bigger than a human being, but of course they can also be smaller. Different sizes of dolls have different effects in terms of interaction with people. Giant dolls are easier to wrap around people and will give them a greater sense of security. Smaller dolls are easier to accompany people and people can walk around any part of the space with them in their arms.

Hospitals are a place that people actually avoid.

For children it is a scary place, stemming from: mechanical sounds, pain

For adults: pain of illness, unspeakable pain, stress

Target group -The patient's family (adults / children)

The patient's family members need to be cared for as they accompany the patient through the treatment process. They carry complex physical and psychological stresses. They take great care of the patient and go through all the complicated medical procedures for the patient. Like sick people, they can have trouble sleeping. Psychologically, they need to stabilise the patient while also relieving themselves of the worry that their family members are suffering from their illness. They also face the death of their family members if they experience a serious illness.
